htm PAGE as WALLPAPER on Windows Active Desktop

If you try to download the page using the "save as" feature of your browser, two things will happen: The page will be changed in the download process, and not all of the graphics files will make it to your hard drive. So, do this: E-mail  JERRY KERGAN with "Kingston Trio Place - LINER NOTES" pasted into the subject line. In return you will receive an automated response with a copy of the unaltered page and associated graphics files for installation on your hard drive. The return e-mail "re_Kingston Trio Place - LINER NOTES" will have attached an "eml" (e-mail) file with the title "Windows Active Desktop htm page (123KB)." . . . then follow the instructions for installation below below:

  1. In a "root" folder of your choosing -- or you may create a new "root" folder of any name -- place a sub-folder called "images". From the files attached to the "re_Kingston Trio Place - LINER NOTES" e-mail, save the "index.htm" file to the "root" folder and the balance of the files to the "images" folder. In the example to the right, the "root" folder is called "Wallpaper" and the sub-folder "images" contains the graphics files.
  2. Go to your Windows Desktop ("Windows Key" + "D" is the shortcut) and RIGHT CLICK on your Desktop.
  3. On the menu that opens, select (LEFT CLICK) "Active Desktop" then "View As Web Page."
  4. Again, RIGHT CLICK on your Windows Desktop.
  5. This time,  select (LEFT CLICK) "Properties" from the menu.
  6. The "Display Properties" window will open with the "Background" tab displayed on top. "Browse" (see the button on the lower right) to the folder where you have placed the "index.htm" file and "images" then, select the "index.htm" file. LEFT CLICK "Open," then "OK" to close the  "Display Properties" window and set the  "index.htm" page as your Active Desktop page.
  7. Your all set. The page will now run as your Active Desktop and you will be able to go directly to either The Kingston Trio Place or the Kingston Trio LINER NOTES from the Desktop. Neat!
